Aruba gallery

Aruba is a sunny, accessible Caribbean island, with modern facilities and quaint, colourful Dutch-flavoured architecture. You'll probably be going to Aruba to lie on one of its beautiful beaches or swim its turquoise waters.

Popular spots are along the southern coast, where you'll find the major hotels, casinos and the most accessible beaches. Aruba has extremely reliable weather (forecast for this year: sunny with cloudy periods) and is mostly unaffected by hurricanes throughout the year.

Aruba's landscape is barren and dry, dotted with cacti and scrub. There is a constant breeze that makes the heat bearable, and gives the Divi divi trees their characteristic leaning shape.

The people of Aruba speak a language called Papiamento, which originated in neighbouring Curacao, and incorporates other languages spoken by African slaves, Spanish, Portuguese, and Dutch.

The images you see in this gallery come mostly from my most recent trips to the island.
