Equipment used
Images dated 2004 and later, as well as the series on Cuba dated 2003, were made with Nikon digital camera equipment. Older images were made on 35mm professional transparency film and scanned at high resolution with a Nikon SuperCoolscan 5000 transparency scanner at 4000 DPI.
I only carry two types of filters when making images: a circular polarizer and a Cokin 173 blue-yellow polarizer.
Image adjustments
After the digital capture or scan, I clean, adjust colour, contrast, and brightness parameters as well as perform the digital equivalent of "dodge and burn" manipulations to achieve the results you see here.
In situations where I feel that the image can be improved by correcting perspective or removing incidental, distracting elements, I will do so.
When an image was altered significantly for creative effect using digital means (e.g. merging two or more different images to form a single composite), it will be indicated in the caption.
Model and property releases
When a model or property release is available for an image, it will be indicated in the IMAGE INFO section. Although many countries do not require model/property releases for editorial use, it remains your responsibility to ensure that an appropriate release is available to cover your chosen image(s) and your intended use(s).

Licensing directly from us
It may take several months between the time an image appears here and the time it becomes available for licensing through our regular stock agents. During this time, the image remains available for licensing directly from us.
You can either click on the image or use the Contact link to request a quote. Please specify the 7-character image reference number along with as much detail about your intended use as possible (i.e. personal/editorial/commercial usage, circulation, image size, countries/languages, etc.)
Types of license available
All our images are available to be licensed as rights-managed (RM) stock photography. This means that each image is tracked and licensed for a specific use, for a specific duration and timeframe, and for a specific territory.
We feel that in many situations, RM stock photography offers a better value for clients.
We do not offer images as royalty-free (RF) stock.
When is a license required?
Always. Our images may only be used by purchasing a license.
