"I got that green light, babe, I got to be moving on Hi, I'm Rubens Abboud. I am a freelance travel stock photographer based in Montreal, Canada. I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, educated in a British school there and moved to Canada in my teens. "Moving on" is in my blood: the last two generations of my family, by circumstance or by choice, also lived in countries and cultures different from the ones they were born into. I suppose, one day my son, too, will be moving on. I get that green light feeling often. I am available for travel, tourism or event-related assignments almost anywhere in the world. If you have a project in mind, get in touch with me and we'll make it happen! I speak English. Je parle français. Falo português. |
All images shown in
were made by Rubens Abboud and are copyrighted. No image may be used without permission from Rubens Abboud or his authorized agents.
Images dated 2004 and later, as well as the series on Cuba dated 2003, were made with Nikon digital camera equipment. Older images were made on 35mm professional transparency film and scanned at high resolution with a Nikon SuperCoolscan 5000 transparency scanner at 4000 DPI.
I only carry two types of filters when making images: a circular polarizer and a Cokin 173 blue-yellow polarizer.
After the digital capture or scan, I clean, adjust colour, contrast, and brightness parameters as well as perform the digital equivalent of "dodge and burn" manipulations to achieve the results you see here.
In situations where I feel that the image can be improved by correcting perspective or removing incidental, distracting elements, I will do so.
When an image was altered significantly for creative effect using digital means (e.g. merging two or more different images to form a single composite), it will be indicated in the caption.
When a model or property release is available for an image, it will be indicated in the IMAGE INFO section. Although many countries do not require model/property releases for editorial use, it remains your responsibility to ensure that an appropriate release is available to cover your chosen image(s) and your intended use(s).
